Can I send you my Pro Tools session?n I send you my Pro Tools session?

Yes, I can work with your session All I ask is that you consolidate your tracks so that all regions start at 0 so if anything happens in the upload and download process,  I will able to re-align the tracks quickly. Make sure that all audio tracks for the session are in the audio folder in the session folder. Make sure Inserts are clear so there is no effects on ie: compression, gates delays, reverb etc.  The same goes for sends.  If you have recorded any tracks using third party effects or plugins that you wish to keep, please record those tracks to a separate audio track within the session. If you used any third party midi instruments in your session, please record them to a separate audio track within your session.

I don't use Pro Tools - can you still mix my work?

Yes, Please Make sure all regions in each track are consolidated to one whole region for each track and start at 0.  Make sure any processing is removed from each track ie: Compression, Gates, Delays, reverb etc.  before printing to an audio file.  If you have an effect on a certain track you wish to keep, print that track with the effect on and also print it dry and name them appropriately.

What format do you want the files to be?

I prefer all files to be WAV 24 bit at 48 kHz (Please do not send MP3 files for mixing).  If you wish to send me an MP3 of your song for me to listen to in advance of working on your project that would be good, so I can get a sense and feel of what the song is about .  It is actually helpful in the process and would be appreciated.

Do you want effects on the files?

Send all files dry with no effects, ie: No compression, Delays, Reverb etc.  If you have any track that you want to keep an effect on that you like, record it to a separate track in the session then send the dry file and effected file named appropriately.

How do you want tracks named?

Please name all tracks according to what instrument or  type of  vocal they are, i.e.: Lead Vocal, Backing Vocal, Harmony.

How do I send my session files to you?

To transfer large session files, you could use www.sendspace.com  or www.yousendit.com  or any similar service, then send me the information I need to download the files.

How long will it take to mix my project?

Every song is different, which means every mix is different and can be a complexed process depending on different elements of the song and the number of tracks to mix, so turnaround time can be different for every song I work on.

Some of my session files are of poor quality - can you still help me?

The quality of your recorded tracks will affect the final mix.  The general rule is that you can’t fix it in the mix.  My advice would be to re-record before sending your session to be mixed. However, if you are unable to record it again I may be able to edit it or do something to make it better than it is but you may incur an additional charge for the time spent which I would discuss with you before proceeding.

What Information do you need?

Time signature and tempo would be good for me to know for any time based effects I may use.  This will save me time in not having to work it out.  Also, information on anything specific you want to happen in the mix regarding effects and names of any songs or music you would like me to use as a reference for how you would like your mix to sound should be included.
